It's been a looooong time coming, but at last we've got a bed that fits like a fitted sheet on the DoubleButter catalog: the Roadrunner. No disrespect at all for the Surfboy, our first bed, beloved by many and happily and soundly slept on for going on 15 years by one of the original DoubleButterers. But the Surfboy is from an earlier time, predating everything else in our catalog. It'll still be available, for sure, but now at last it's got a slumber party buddy.
This first one is made from Maple hardwood plywood—FSC-certified, gorgeous satin finish, insanely strong. It's built to ship from the start (unlike the original Surfboy, though we've re-engineered it to travel well over the years), with easy-as-pie bolt-up assembly with embedded hardware.
And as if all that weren't enough!: we've finally dialed proper, sofa-style upholstery. The first proper sofa is coming (real, real soon) but for now we're offering up an upholstered headboard on all versions of this dream machine. In four of our standard Maharam wool options, though if you really want one of the others (or something else entirely), just ask. And if you manage to ask one of the nice ones around here we'll make it happen.
